ANYWAY, this requires explanation. If you don’t let Fenris kill Varania, she tells Fenris that he did indeed ask for the lyrium tattoos and, better yet, competed for them. Since the Imperium is based on the Roman Empire, I can imagine that Denarius held a huge tournament since I can imagine making slaves fight in a pit was a huge source of entertainment for Tevinter.
